It Cannot Return Void

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

Isaiah 55:11

We have come in contact with this scripture many times, but I am always glad to come in contact with it again because it gives me confidence that if God has spoken a thing, it cannot be undone. It cannot be unspoken. It cannot return to Him void.

And that is a wonder.

The wonder is that the Word does not give up. God’s Word will insist until it is manifested. God’s Word concerning you cannot return empty. It has nowhere else to go. It must continue to work until it comes to pass.

Remember the promise God gave to David. He said his throne would be established forever, and mercy would not depart from his house. Yet, many of David’s descendants disobeyed God. Some became horrible kings. Some walked away from God’s ways and embraced other gods.

But the Word did not return to heaven and say, “Since they do not want to align, I am going back.”

No.

That promise had to fulfil its assignment. Kings were removed. Kings were replaced. The kingdom was divided. At one point, Athaliah rose and tried to wipe out the royal lineage. But the Word of the Lord had already gone forth. So a child from the royal line of David was hidden and preserved.

Why? Because God gave a word. That Word kept tracing the lineage of David until it met Jesus.

Even blind Bartimaeus recognised that Word when he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” That is how powerful the Word is. When God speaks, His Word goes on assignment. It continues to work, arrange, preserve, protect, remove, replace, and align until what God said comes to pass.

So if God has spoken a Word over you, do not be afraid. It may not look or feel like it yet. People may have acted against it. Situations may have tried to fight it. But the Word of God cannot return void. It must accomplish what He sent it to do.

Hallelujah.

Prayer:

Father, thank You because Your Word cannot return void. Help me to align with what You have spoken. Strengthen my heart to trust You, even when I cannot yet see the manifestation. Let every Word You have spoken over my life accomplish its purpose. In Jesus’ name, amen.
