“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16–17
This scripture clearly shows us why the Word of God exists and what it is meant to do in our lives. The Word of God is not just inspired by God. It is also useful and profitable for the believer.
It is profitable for doctrine. Doctrine is the foundation that guides the way you do the things you do as a believer. The Word of God teaches you what is true. It teaches you what is right. It teaches you how to walk in the ways of God.
It is profitable for reproof. Reproof speaks of conviction. It is when the Word of God points out what is wrong in your heart, your thoughts, your actions, or your lifestyle. But the Word does not stop at showing you your error. It also brings you to a place of repentance and obedience.
It is profitable for correction. Correction means the Word of God helps you realign. It does not only show you the wrong path, it brings you back to the right path.
It is profitable for instruction in righteousness. The Bible says we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. That righteous state is a gift we received by grace. But for us to live in line with that righteousness and conform to the nature of Christ, we need the Word of God.
The Word trains us.
The Word teaches us how to live holy.
The Word teaches us how to walk in the reality of who God has made us.
When you look at everything the Word is able to do in a person, you will see that the Word is truly a wonder.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of Your Word. Thank You because Your Word teaches me, corrects me, trains me, and equips me. Help me to remain committed to Your Word. Let my heart be filled with it, and let my life be transformed by it. Make me complete and thoroughly equipped for every good work. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Declaration:
The Word of God is working in me.
The Word teaches me.
The Word corrects me.
The Word trains me in righteousness.
I am complete in Christ.
I am equipped for every good work.
My heart is filled with the Word of God.
My life is transformed by it.
