SUSTAINED BY THE WORD

Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power…

Hebrews 1:3

Creation is step one. Sustaining is step two. We see this even with the things men create. People build phones, softwares, systems, and products, but they have to keep fixing bugs, upgrading, improving, and making changes so that what they created can be sustained. They have to keep releasing new versions because what they built cannot sustain itself.

The Word of God, however, is different. The same Word that was released at creation is the same Word still holding creation together today. When God said, “Let there be light,” that Word had enough power not only to create light, but to sustain what it created.

The same Word is still holding the sun, the moon, the stars, and everything in place. God has not needed to come back and say, “Sun, I need to upgrade My instruction to version 2.0.”

No.

The Word God released carried within itself the power to remain relevant in every generation. No matter the century it walks into, it is still powerful. No matter the generation it meets, it is still relevant. It sustains what it creates. That is the wonder of sustenance.

That which began in the Word must remain in the Word. It must be sustained by the Word, fueled by the Word, upheld by the Word, empowered by the Word, and kept relevant through the Word. Apart from that, it cannot work.

He that must last must move by the Word. He that must stand must hold on to the Word. If the Word can sustain creation for generations, then surely, the Word can sustain your life.

How long are you even living that the Word cannot sustain you?

The same Word that sustains creation can sustain your spirit, your assignment, your family, your future, and everything God has committed into your hands.

So today, do not only believe the Word for what it can create. Believe the Word for what it can sustain.

Prayer:

Father, thank You because Your Word does not only create, it sustains. Help me not to start in the Word and continue in the flesh. Let everything You have started in my life be sustained, upheld, fuelled, and empowered by Your Word. In Jesus’ name, amen.
