Settled in Heaven

“Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.”

Psalm 119:89

Heaven speaks of the domain where God rules. It speaks of the place where His throne is established. It speaks of the realm that is not subject to time, man-made laws, human limitations, principalities, powers, or rulers of darkness.

So when the Bible says His Word is settled in heaven, it means that from God’s realm, it is already established, concluded, complete and finished. He completed it before you heard it.

However, as somebody who lives on earth, breathes on earth, has a job on earth, and has things to do on earth, I really need the Word of God to be settled on earth. I do not need it to be settled in heaven alone.

On earth as in Heaven

I believe that this is why Jesus taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

God wants what has been settled in heaven to find expression on the earth. He wants what He has completed in eternity to manifest in your life in time. And this is the part that amazes me: God goes with you at your pace, to bring you into the manifestation of what He has already settled in heaven.

From His perspective, it is done. But in your life, you may still be watching it unfold. You may still be walking through the process. You may still be growing into the fullness of what He has spoken.

And, He is patient.

He walks with you through your human imperfections. When you understand and when you do not. When you are strong and when you are weak. And He walks with you when you are faithful and when you are struggling. The Word is settled in heaven, but God is patient enough to bring you into the experience of it on earth.

That is a wonder.

So do not be afraid of the process. Do not think God has forgotten what He said just because you are still walking through it. Do not assume the Word has failed because you have not seen the fullness yet. His Word is settled.

May your life become an expression of what God has already completed in eternity.

Prayer:

Father, thank You because Your Word is settled in heaven. Let everything You have spoken and completed in eternity begin to find expression in my life here on earth. Give me the grace to walk with You through the process until I see the fullness of Your Word manifested in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
