CAPTIVATING THOUGHTS

”casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” ‭

2 Corinthians 10:5 ‭NKJV‬‬

It takes deliberate action from a disciplined mind to continuously ensure that their thought life is aligned with the will of God. Because thoughts are often where fear is first introduced, and you want them under control, it starts with thinking about what you are thinking about.

And when you notice a negative or contrary thought, you respond to it with the word and align it to what God’s word says about that thought. It’s like a Cognitive Adjustment. But in faith, it is bringing the thought into captivity.

You see, your thoughts might not be heard by others, but in your head, they are not silent; they have a voice. You hear it, and the God who hears and answers the secret prayers of your heart can hear it too.

Not only thoughts but arguments need to be addressed too; they need to be cast down. So does every high thing that tries to exalt itself above the knowledge of God. Sometimes you argue with yourself in your head, and you have held on to some wrong thoughts for so long that they are now exalted as true. Especially if they exalt themselves above the knowledge of God.

Subject those thoughts that affect your ability to pray, study, or stay focused on God’s assignment for your life, and bring them in obedience to Christ.

Confession

Every thought not in alignment with the will of god for me, I cast you down right now, and I bring you in obedience to Christ. Every argument in my mind, every war in my thoughts, every disagreement or disequilibrium in my thoughts, I bring you into captivity, and I declare that you obey the Lord and submit to the Lordship of Christ. In the name of Jesus, amen.

Shalom
