Who Decreed?

‘Who is there who speaks and it comes to pass, Unless the Lord has authorized and commanded it? ‘

Lamentations 3:37

I remember when President Tinubu, our current president, came into power. One of the first major statements he made, either during his swearing-in or immediately after, included these two words: Subsidy gone. The moment he said those words, panic started. People began to talk. Conversations erupted everywhere. Fuel prices, cost of living, transportation, food, everything came into the discussion.

People said things like, “He cannot just say that.” “There has to be a process.” And yet, despite all the opinions and objections, everybody still adjusted their expectations. Why? Because the person who said it had the authority to say it.

If I had somehow managed to call a press conference or jumped on social media and said, “People of Nigeria, subsidy gone,” everyone would have laughed. They would have scrolled past. They would have asked, “Who is she?” Not because the words were different, but because I do not have the authority to back them up.

Put authority where your mouth is

No one can speak something into existence unless the Lord has authorised and commanded it. Nobody has the right to decree anything over your life just because they opened their mouth. They must have the authority. And this authority is not self-generated. It does not come from age, from title, from how long someone has been in faith, or how confident they sound. All authority and power belong to and come from God. And you belong to God.

Someone once said to my mother that I would never get married. That was a statement made in my direction. Now, that statement had no authority. It could not stand unless the Lord Himself backed it and said, “Yes, this will come to pass.” Needless to say, I am Mrs Luyi.

Yet there are cases where something was said, and even though it was contrary to God’s plan, it happened. So how does such a word ever become powerful in someone’s life?

Only one way.

If you allow that statement to affect your emotions, expectations, and actions. If you take the authority that God has placed inside you, the breath He gaveyou, your identity as His image on the earth, and you begin to repeat that word out of fear. The moment you do that, you authorise what was originally unauthorised.

So do not partner with negative words by believing them. Do not authorise fear-filled decrees by repeating them. Do not align your expectations with words God has not spoken.

Prayer

Cancel every tongue that has risen up against you. Speak against every negative decree that has ever been made concerning your life. Declare that it is wiped away.

Say:
Father, in the name of Jesus, by the authority I have in Christ, I condemn every tongue that has risen against me in judgment. By the blood of Jesus, I erase every negative confession, decree, and proclamation that was spoken with my name on it, spoken about me, spoken in my direction, and even the ones I believed in the past. Let the blood that washes cleanse them away. Let the blood that restores and redeems remove their effect from my life. I declare that only what You have spoken concerning me will stand, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Shalom, and God bless you.
