TRUTH OR NOTHING
- DAY 324
- FEAR FILE: Prophet Micaiah
- SCRIPTURES: 1 KINGS 22:5-28
You have to be a very courageous person to show up and speak the truth when every other person is lying. Because chances are, truth will get you in trouble. In our text today, Micaiah was called to prophesy to king Ahab concerning the battle he and Jehoshaphat are to embark on. The interesting is 400 prophets had already prophesied before he came and they all said the same thing, “Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.” (verse 6). But Jehoshaphat felt something was off. So MIcaiah was called.
When they brought him, they asked him to align with the prophecies of the 400 men before him. But Micaiah was not that kind of prophet, he was determined to say what God was saying. When he arrived and agreed with the other prophets the king knew he was lying. But why did he align with them? Because he knew, by a vision, that God wanted Ahab to go for that war so he will die according to the word of God.
However, the king knew he was lying. Because when a man of faith is acting out of character it is obvious. Micaiah had to summon the courage to say what no one else was saying.
Then Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by, on His right hand and on His left. And the LORD said, ‘Who will persuade Ahab to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner. Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD, and said, ‘I will persuade him.’ The LORD said to him, ‘In what way?’ So he said, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the LORD said, You shall persuade him, and also prevail. Go out and do so.’ Therefore look! The LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the LORD has declared disaster against you.”
Guess what happened after he spoke the truth? He was slapped and imprisoned. Yet what he said happened.
Keep It True
Beloved. When you know God is speaking to you, when you know the right thing, when you know the truth, say it. Because the truth is the truth. A lie can be fabricated, but truth can never fail. We have so many lying tongues, lying opinions, and people twisting the truth because they don’t want to be offensive. “Let me just say what they’re asking me to say.” They say. But people and even you know that you are compromising.
Say it the way that God has put it in your mouth. If you make a mistake in the way you are saying it, correct yourself and retrace yourself. Some of us, it’s not as if you lied intentionally, just that you omitted some important facts. You didn’t dig deep enough. So you can retrace your steps and say what the truth is. That takes courage, faith and confidence.
May the Lord give you the courage and the grace, may He empower you to speak the truth and nothing but the truth. In Jesus’ name.
Shalom.
