THEY’VE HEARD ABOUT YOU

  • DAY 82
  • Fear File: Kings of Canaan
  • Scripture: Joshua 5:1

So it was, when all the kings of the Amorites who were on the west side of the Jordan, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, that their heart melted; and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the children of Israel.

Now, this testimony is not new to us, we’ve heard it somewhere before. The first person that recounts this is Rahab when she was speaking with the spies. She tells of how news and reports sparked fear and doubt and affected the spirit, motivation, and confidence of their nation.

Reading this got me thinking of the experience of the journey of the children of Israel in the wilderness and how every single inconvenience they faced, was an opportunity to complain about God. Not realizing that every miracle that they encountered was meant to be a report that would terrify their enemies so that defeating them would not be difficult.

Because fear is the one thing that gives the enemy an advantage over you. And so while Israel was fretting, worrying, and complaining about God; and Moses. God was sending out a warning with every miracle.

Know that every difficulty that you’re going through, God is sending out a report to your enemies, and the next difficult situation that you might go through. So that when you’re addressing that mountain and saying, be thou removed, It moves because there is an existing report.

God is sending a notice to the enemy with every victory He works on the inside of you.

Watch Your Ears.

The only thing that terrified and weakened these people was simple information. It was not that they had seen these people at war. It was not that they had confronted them before. It’s not that they had opposed them before. No! It was just what they heard that was terrifying enough to cripple them and take away their courage.

So that means that the information that you are hearing also has the capacity to put fear inside of you. And that is why you have to be careful what you hear. Because when you open up your ears to things that are designed to steal your faith, to terrify and terrorize you, it can affect your ability to hope, dream, expect, and believe for the great things that God has in store for you.

You’ve Made The News

So let me be the one to announce to you that people have heard about you. They’ve heard about how God healed your disease and they are talking about how strong you are. They are talking about how God delivered you, but they had no idea that it was also a struggle on your end.

But it’s none of their business, is it? The only thing that they need to hear is that you had victory at the end. For you, it felt like a dream when God turned away your captivity. But to the people that are watching it was a miraculous sound.

So take confidence that the situation you are going through is producing a greater testimony for the assignment that is ahead of you and position your ear to hear only the things that will stir up your faith and not the things that will fuel fear.

Shalom
