THE PEACE OF CHRIST
- DAY 364
- FEAR FILE: ALL DISCIPLES OF JESUS
- SCRIPTURES: JOHN 14:27
What we get when we live by faith is a life of peace. Because fear has torment. So when you cast out fear by faith, you enjoy peace. Peace in your spirit, peace in your mind, peace in your soul, peace around you, peace in your body. You have all-round peace. And the kind of peace that we’re talking about here is not the peace that comes from the world. It’s not the peace of absence of trouble. No. It’s a peace that no matter what is going on around you, you are not shaken. That peace is divine, it can only come from Christ. And that’s what we see in our text today.
Jesus gave us his peace before He left the earth to return, but His peace, though free, comes with an instruction, “let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be dismayed.” It sounds to me like there’s a responsibility that you have to this peace. You have access to peace but you will have to stop your heart from choosing fear, anxiety, or worry. It means don’t open up an opportunity for your heart to be troubled. When you feel like trouble is coming into your heart, you need to change the frequency of your heart so that it can accept peace. You need to ensure your heart is not open to accepting torment or fear.
The only way your heart cannot be troubled is if you allow the peace of Christ to dwell richly in you. And the only way that that can happen is if you pray. When we pray the peace that surpasses all understanding fills our hearts. When your business is about to go under, when your child starts to show signs of misbehavior, or when you are waiting for a miracle that is taking time, you redirect your heart in prayer. And then peace fills your heart.
So pray. “Father, as I step into this new year, let my heart be at peace. Fill my heart with your peace, in the name of Jesus, Amen.”
Shalom
