RETURN TO ABBA
- DAY 348
- FEAR FILE: THE PRODIGAL SON
- SCRIPTURES: Luke 15:17-20
The prodigal son at this point has exhausted everything that he has in riotous living. He did everything the father asked him not to do, and now he’s reaping the consequence of doing things outside the way of the father. One day he came to himself. He realized that he was living less than The Father’s best for him. Like anyone, he felt a level of shame and condemnation and he pondered the possibility that his father would be displeased with him but even if he loses his place as a son, at least he would be fed. So he takes up courage and heads back home.
It’s easy to think that hunger drove him home and we will not be wrong. Sometimes it takes some issues for us to wake up or come to ourselves. We exposed ourselves to these issues when we stepped out of the father’s best for us and if we don’t wake up we may lose our way forever. Besides, hunger is a great motivator. Countless stars have been born and talents discovered because of poverty and hunger. Yet, there are lots of us who would have allowed shame, guilt, and even pride to stop us from heading back home. But this prodigal son took a step of faith and headed back home. When he got home, he realized that he had no reason to after all, he just needed to repent and come back home.
You have to be courageous enough to know this is where I fell short and go back to God. Don’t believe the lie that if you go back to God, He will not accept you. That thought will keep you in the bondage of fear and sin. We rebuke and silence that lie in the name of Jesus. You will not be too ashamed or too afraid to go back to Abba.
Your Abba loves you. He is your Father and a child should always call for the Father. God is not an irresponsible dad. He’s not toxic. He is good. He will embrace you and that your issue and supply you with grace to never go back to that filt again.
Shalom.
