DAY 12: LIVING IN UNDERSTANDING

The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

Isaiah 11:2

Understanding is a step further from knowledge. You can have information without fully comprehending what it means or how it applies. An example is theory versus application or idea versus reality. You can read about anything but experiencing or observing it changes the whole experience. For example, while studying Psychology I read about grief, trauma, and other mental conditions that can affect us. Not until I went through grief myself did I fully understand what a grieving person goes through. Not until I saw a family member suffer Post-traumatic anxiety did I understand it.

I’m not saying understanding comes from experience so knowledge is not required. I am trying to show you the difference between knowing and understanding. When understanding happens, the information has clicked, it’s like a light bulb just went off in your head and you had an “ah-ha” moment.

We often call it revelation. We know that the Spirit of God is the Spirit of Revelation so understanding comes from Him. Want to understand the path of your life, why some things happened to you at some point in your life? The Spirit of understanding will make it make sense. When the Spirit of God manifests as understanding, a knowledge that has been sitting dormant will come alive within you. He will make scriptures come alive and leap out of the page into your spirit. There are things about life you need to understand to excel and that is something only God can give.

Declare

I have understanding. I comprehend matters of my life and of the spirit. Things are made clear to me. I do not walk in the darkness of ignorance. I can comprehend deep things. The spirit of the Lord breathes upon every knowledge and brings it to light. In the name of Jesus. I don’t just have knowledge, I have understanding.

Also Read.

Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding; Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you. – Proverbs 4:1,5-6

Shalom.
