IT MAY NOT BE THE DEVIL

  • DAY 256
  • FAITH FILE: JONAH
  • SCRIPTURES: JONAH 1:4,17

But the LORD sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was about to be broken up. Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

We have been taught that everything we face that doesn’t go our way or causes us discomfort is bad and evil and therefore from the devil and the seasons that are pleasant and joyful are good and therefore from God. This is not always the case. Primarily because our experiences and feelings are not accurate judges of good and bad. Sometimes, good doesn’t feel good. For example, the corrections and chastisements of God don’t feel good, yet it is good for us. And the storm that hit the boat Jonah was in didn’t feel good but it was good for Jonah; to bring him out of a rebellious path.

Jonah decided not to obey God and that disobedience made everything work against him. Why? God had to save him from himself. Do you know what happens when God comes for you, everything shakes. Not to mention that everything is at His disposal and these elements and less disobedient, opinionated, stubborn, and willful than humans. So God sent a wind and then a fish to Jonah and he knew that this was not the devil, this was not evil, it was good, so he was not afraid to be thrown into the sea.

It’s God

Things in your life may be quaking and you may be suffering some discomfort because of your disobedience and you think it’s the devil. No, it’s God. He came for you and so everything that is in disobedience in your life starts to shift so that you can come back to your senses and see that His plans for you are actually good. Sadly, it has to be this way. Because, sometimes only disruption, tough times and suffering awaken us to obedience. The prodigal son, Nebuchadnezzar, David (when he did a census), Israel only came to themselves when they suffered.

Permit me to be unfiltered, when God spoke to you peacefully it did not work, now situations and storms are in your life and you’re blaming the devil. Don’t blame the devil for your disobedience. What you need to do is repent and come back to God and say “God I ran away, I shouldn’t have, I should have just stayed and obeyed but now I want to repent. Forgive me.” In Jesus’ name.

Shalom
