DAY 21: IN THE BEGINNING

”In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.“

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

For some of you this is not just the beginning of a new year but a new season. You have just started something new and different or entered ito a new phase. Maybe this is your first month in marriage or on that job. You probably just started a business or opened a new branch of your store.

Or maybe you became a first time parent or you moved to a new city. It could also be that you lost someone and now you have to learn how to live without them. By all indications this is a beginning of something new but this beginning doesn’t look so great.

Formless and Void

It seems formless and void or even underwhelming and disappointing. You don’t know how you will make it through or what the future holds. Perhaps, you even started joyfully and excited about the future but that is immediately followed by some uncertainties.

You and your new spouse have just discovered some shocking new revelations about each other that is causing disagreement. The bundle of joy won’t stop crying long enough for you to sleep and this new city isn’t what you expected. This beginning seems to have some issues that has you concerned about your future.

If this is you God is saying, “do not be afraid, I am in your beginning. My Spirit is brooding over your season, you are not alone.” I want to remind you that God not only broods but He speaks in the beginning and forms everything and brings beauty out of the uncertainty.

Declare

Speak over that formless beginning and declare God’s word to it and your heart. Say, “God is in my beginning therefore there is light. His Spirit is with me creating beauty and forming everything according to the counsel of God. I may not see the big picture or know how everything will turn out but I trust the brooding of the Spirit. Greatness is coming from this my little beginning.”

Shalom
