GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU

  • DAY 261
  • FAITH FILE: ELIJAH
  • SCRIPTURES: I KINGS 17:2-6

Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.

Beloved, you’ve heard this before but let this be a reassuring reminder, God knows everything that you need. Our text today proves that God anticipates our needs. In our study yesterday, Elijah showed up from nowhere and declared a famine in the land, and the moment he finished that decree, God instructed him to go to a place He had prepared for his safety and provision.

HE Thinks Ahead

God knew that a famine meant that food would be in short supply in the days to come, not to mention that he was the prophet who just declared drought during Jezebel’s regime. Jezebel was a prophet killer and Elijah was the notorious troubler of Israel, he definitely needed a safe place to hide. God anticipated what Elijah would need and supplied them all.

Beloved, God knows what you need even before you need it and you need not worry. He said in Matthew 6:31-33, “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Your daily needs are not unknown to Him.

Jireh

I don’t know what it is God is asking you to do or where He is asking you to go and you are afraid that you won’t have the resources to meet up. God will not send you and not plan how you will be taken care of. My husband used to say that if an embassy sends an ambassador, the ambassador doesn’t have to worry if he’s going to be taken care of because the country that sent him knows and thinks about the fact that this person is going to need accommodation in the country where he’s going.

This is why when you come to God, you shouldn’t come with doubt but with gratitude because you know your Father. You should come from a place of thanksgiving. The One who sent you counted the cost. Abraham didn’t doubt God’s provision, He only trusted and said, “God is going to provide a sacrifice for himself.” And when he got there, there was a ram provided for him. So God already provided a ram for the sacrifice. God is going to provide everything that you need, He will take care of you. Do not be afraid.

Shalom.
