GOD IS WITH YOU

  • DAY 139
  • FAITH FILE: JOSEPH
  • SCRIPTURES: GENESIS 39:2-4; 21-23

The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand. So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority. But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison; whatever they did there, it was his doing. The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority, because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made it prosper.

Let’s do an experiment. Place both hands on your chest, and say the words, “God is with me.” Then think about what you are saying for a moment. Then say it again, God is with me. There is a peace that overwhelms you when you say those words. It is the most comforting words ever.

Knowing that God is with you guarantees that you can overcome everything that might come against you.  So let me tell you again, God is with you. As long as you are living your life according to His plan, He is with you.  As long as you are His and He is your Lord, He is with you and He will never stop being with you. Selah

In our text today, we read that God was with Joseph and the presence of God with him made him prosper. Every single place he went; he became the top of the pile and the leader of the pack. But the interesting thing about this text is that the presence of God with him did not prevent him from some issues  (as we might call it).

He had the presence of God with him in the house of Potiphar and yet he was framed for rape and imprisoned. God was with him in the prison and yet he remained in prison. You would think that the presence of God with him would have bursted him out like it did for Peter or Paul and Silas. But that didn’t happen.

The Purpose Of Presence

Most of us have been taught or maybe we developed the idea all on our own that God’s presence with you means that you’re not supposed to face any difficult day. I have the same expectation so I can understand where you’re coming from. However, this is not always the case.

The presence of God with you is supposed to lead you in the path that God has designed for you. The presence of God with you is supposed to strengthen you on the journey of purpose, and this journey will have rough and tough seasons. For Joseph, this was the path laid out before him and though it didn’t seem pleasant, he didn’t have to do it alone.

God Knows

We become open to fear and anxious thoughts when we do not understand that God knows what He is doing in these seasons of our lives. He is aware that they are tough but He assures you that as you go through, He is with you.

Let this mind be in you and do not let your heart be troubled. Let the life of Joseph be a sign and an encouragement for you in the toughest seasons of your life. And if you feel anxious, pray.

Pray

Dear Father, thank you for your abiding presence with me. This season is tough but I trust you with my life. I know that You know what You are doing and You do not make mistakes. I believe that by Your spirit You are strengthening me for the road and you are with me on the journey. I ask for the grace to go with You through this valley without fear. In Jesus name. Amen

Shalom
