“He shall deliver you in six troubles, Yes, in seven no evil shall touch you. In famine He shall redeem you from death, And in war from the power of the sword. You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, And you shall not be afraid of destruction when it comes.”
Job 5:19–21
Delivered from trouble. Whatever it is you call trouble, God has promised that He will deliver you from it.
It is interesting that the scripture says, “In six troubles you shall be delivered, and in seven no evil shall touch you.” We all know that seven represents completion or perfection. That means that even if you have been pressed on every side and God has been delivering you again and again, there comes a point where the enemy finally gets the message.
You had trouble in your marriage, and God delivered you. Trouble with your children, and He delivered you. Trouble on your job, and He delivered you. By the time you get to that seventh cycle of trouble, the enemy already understands that this is not someone he can keep attacking and succeed. There is a hedge of protection around you that stops the trouble from even coming near you. You cannot even taste it, not to talk of surviving it. God has mounted a protection around your life.
But it does not stop there.
The promise also says that He will redeem you from death, and in war He will redeem you from the power of the sword. So whatever voice is whispering to you about your life being cut short is a lie from the pit of hell. Whatever war may be raging in your life, it will not succeed. Whatever enemies are waging war against you, whatever weapons are being formed against you, they will not prosper. They will not work. The sword shall not touch you because the Lord Himself delivers you.
Then the scripture goes even further. It says you shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue.
There are words people release that are meant to wound the heart. Sometimes it comes as a comment. Sometimes it comes through a message or a careless statement. But when those words are released, they can pierce deeply because words carry power. Yet the Bible says that God will hide you from the scourge of the tongue. The tongue will not scourge you.
And above all, you will not be afraid of destruction when it comes.
Beloved, God has covered you in every possible way. From death, from war, from destructive words, from trouble, from destruction itself. Nothing is permitted to come near you without His permission.
So declare this over yourself:
I am delivered from trouble.
I am delivered from every voice that speaks against me.
I am hidden from the scourge of the tongue.
I am redeemed from death.
I am redeemed from the power of the sword.
I am completely protected.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.
