DAY 31: FOR MY GOOD
This is a favorite scripture and we confess it often, especially when in tough seasons. However, when we make confessions we often forget the clauses and keywords that surround said scripture. I would love to draw your attention to the words highlighted in this verse.
All things working together for good for you are dependent on two conditions:
- That you love God and,
- That you are called according to his purpose
Loving God is a response to His love for us, we only love Him because He first loved us and poured out His love within our hearts. That love compels us to keep His commandments and do His will. (see Romans 5:5, I John 4:19) God has called us all into His purpose. He decided our purpose before we were even born. He predestined and foreknew you before you knew you. However, not everyone walks according to that purpose.
You can walk in purpose and not love God, this we see in Revelations 2:2-4. The church in Ephesus was faithful, hated evil, was discerning of false prophets, and endured the challenges that came with faith, yet because they lacked in Love, they failed and needed to repent. So it is possible to be purposeful without love but you cannot love and not do purpose.
Beloved, if you check these two boxes, all things will work together for your good. When you sum up everything, you will find that it all worked out. The good things that you experienced, the negative things that you experienced, all of that hurt and pain will all work together. But you have to be able to wait until you get to the end of that season. So declare, I know that this season is tough. If so, if you’re in a tough season, to see how it worked out.
Decree
I trust that God is making a beautiful story out of the seasons of my life. All that I have been through is working together for my good. No season of my life is wasted, I trust the mastery of God. In the end, He will make it good.
Shalom.
