DAY 4: FOLLOWED FOR LIFE

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life

Psalm 23:6

This is a confession that you should pray in every new season and, if possible, every new day of your life: “Goodness and mercy shall follow me.” The job of Goodness is to redirect the outcome of your life to work for your good. The job of mercy is to preserve and qualify you for favour. Goodness ensures that the hurts and pains you encounter in the journey of life are not wasted. Mercy ensures that by divine providence you are favored, forgiven, protected, separated, and marvelously helped by man and God.

When we declare this verse at the end of service in our local churches, we often miss the key word there, “follow.” Follow means you are on a journey, you have to be going somewhere for something to follow you. And the context of this verse, you have to be following the Lord, your shepherd for these two to follow you. And they are to follow you all the days of your life. The days in 2024 are parts of the days of your life. From the first day to the last.

Other things would want to follow you. Like pain, lack, depression, disease, sickness, hurt, etc. But none of these are sent by God. He only instructed goodness and mercy to follow you. So today we will send all those uninvited followers back to where they belong and welcome our divine followers.

Say After Me

Surely, goodness and mercy will follow me (add your name) all the days of your life. I speak goodness over the remaining days of this year. Anything that is not accommodated in the goodness and mercies of God will not follow me. And if it is, I send it back by the authority in the name of Jesus. I shut your door of access to these contrary spirits, experiences, encounters, etc, by the authority in the blood of Jesus and I open the door to goodness and mercy. In Jesus’ name.

Shalom
