DAY 29: FIRST, KINGDOM

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 6:33

Priorities are things you set while the season or new year is still in its early days. If you do not have defined priorities you will expose your heart to anxiety. Thankfully, the word of God has told us what we should prioritize in every season – God’s Kingdom and His righteousness.

What is the Kingdom of God? It is where God rules, where He reigns from. God is the governor, the authority, and the king in that kingdom. That means that if you say you are in God’s kingdom, you mean that God is the ruler and Lord over your life.

And when we seek first God’s kingdom, it means we’re putting first the agenda of the King and the agenda of His kingdom. When the king makes a decree, you run with it. If the King is concerned about the wellness of your nation, about all souls being saved, about loving your neighbor or loving Him above all else, you put that on your heart as a priority and a non-negotiable. And we have more of our King’s desire expressed in the word.

But our text doesn’t only speak of the Kingdom, It also says, “and His righteousness.” That means the ways of the King. God’s way of doing things has to be first for you. The way HE wants you to live and act. What He wants you to accomplish on earth, comes first.

And you know that this text is taken from God saying not to be anxious. So, instead of being anxious about what you want to eat, instead of being concerned about those temporal things, be more concerned about eternal things.

Decree

I am Kingdom-minded, my focus is the King and His righteousness. I concern myself with the will of God. I am focused on the things that promote the kingdom. My heart is set on things that advance the purpose of the gospel. And I desire to do the will of God.

Amen.
