DON’T COMPROMISE
- DAY 138
- FAITH FILE: JOSEPH
- SCRIPTURES: GENESIS 39:6-10
One of the qualities of a man of faith and courage is their doggedness. They are unwavering when it comes to their devotion to God and we see that with Joseph. Picture the situation he was in. His madam had decided that his beauty was meant for her bed and she was willing to get him on it. She consistently asked him. And you know women, this was no ordinary ask; and she did it every dawning day. Joseph had to resist his employer every day he showed up to work (this must have been a hostile work environment).
Because the thing is evil is consistent. It is not more powerful than what is in you but it never relents easily. And even when it does, it is until it finds another opportunity. So you can not relent on your faith or give a foothold to the devil because it will always lead to destruction. Potiphar’s wife was consistent in her request and he was consistent in his faith
There Are Perks
You have to understand that sleeping with madam could have come with some benefits. He was a slave and she was dignitary, the upper class. Opportunities could have come out of it, better living quarters, wages or even his freedom. Just like the offers you are getting right now could come with benefits and what you are asked to do may not even be as bad as sleeping with oga or madam. It could be changing the books, lying for a colleague, looking the other way or divulging a secret. Whatever it is, it requires that you compromise the standards of God. Don’t
It’s Tough
It is easy to say you won’t do it before the opportunity arises. Or the first time it is offered. Nobody wants to intentionally defy God. We all want to do His good will but not all of us can last under the pressure of persistence. The offer may sound off at first but by the 10th time it may not sound so strange. Reasons why you should do it will be staring you in the face. Plus life has a way of presenting these offers at the worst possible time. It always comes when you need it the most and there will be no other option in sight. This is why you need more than a strong will to overcome.
What’s Your Why?
Joseph’s motivation came from the Lord. He feared the Lord and refused. The fear of the Lord was greater than the benefits of compromise. Nothing was worth it when it came to his faith.
Beloved, it takes courage to refuse things you need just to please God. It takes courage to lose all to hold on to God. That courage comes only from an intimate relationship with God. That relationship also ignites fear in you. But this fear is the right kind of fear, the fear of the lord is the only fear we are permitted to have and it is also a spirit.
Isaiah talks about the spirit of the fear of God. and that stems from the same holy spirit in you, you just have to ask the Lord to fill your heart with reverence (fear) for him and He will.
Pray that now in Jesus name.
Shalom.
