DAY 139: REST-ORATION

He restores my soul;

PSALM 23:3a

Right there in the word, restore is rest. Restoration only occurs when you rest. Sleep gives your body time to reboot, refresh and restore. You wake up full of strength and energy. Same way stillness and resting in the Lord renews you spiritually.

What does your shepherd restore? Your soul. Soul in our text speaks of, strength, life, mind, body, the whole self. Life is exhausting and from time to time we need a refreshing. Refreshing only comes from The Shepherd. When we come to His presence it’s the rest our soul needs.

Actively spending time with God is non-negotiable for you because that is your time of refreshing. But do you wanna guess why the majority don’t do it? We are busy! Why are you so busy? Because we have filled our day with activities that take from us. Primarily our jobs and why do you need to work? because you want to provide for yourself. See the problem? We need rest to work but we are too busy working to rest. Because we are afraid that if we take a break we will not be able to make ends meet. We even work on Sundays for the same reason.

You need to get off the vicious cycle. Work when it is work time and rest when it is rest time. That is a godly balance. Do not be afraid.

Shalom.
