DAY 120: I CHOOSE TO TRUST
”Though the fig tree does not blossom And there is no fruit on the vines, Though the yield of the olive fails And the fields produce no food, Though the flock is cut off from the fold And there are no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will [choose to] rejoice in the Lord; I will [choose to] shout in exultation in the [victorious] God of my salvation! The Lord God is my strength [my source of courage, my invincible army]; He has made my feet [steady and sure] like hinds’ feet And makes me walk [forward with spiritual confidence] on my high places [of challenge and responsibility]. There was a season in my life where nothing was working. I didn’t have a job and no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t get any. We just just buried my sister, I relocated to Abuja and moved in with my younger sister. I had a myomectomy that took all the savings I had left, so I was flat broke. My life was not working.
I wish I could tell you that in all this mess I leaned on God but that would be a lie. I didn’t choose to trust Him, so I did not rejoice, I complained. I forgot that it is in these dark days that trust is most required. It is easy to have faith when the skies are blue and credit alerts are surplus. It is much tougher to choose God when things go awry.
These tough days are inevitable but when we trust Him, we find strength in the midst of it all and shorten the length of our struggles. As we rejoice in Him, our feet are stable and we can advance in confidence and courage until we see His salvation once again.
Say This Prayer
Lord, help me to rejoice in this tough season. You are the source of courage, my confidence and the Hod of my salvation. So in the midst of this trial I declare that I rejoice. For you shall make my feet stable like the deer, I will not be shaken or moved. Show me your salvation and cause me to walk on high places. In Jesus’ name. Amen
