DAY 111: ROOTED IN LOVE
“Being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Ephesians 3:17b-19
To be rooted is to be firmly fixed, and planted. To be grounded is to be firmly established. Look at these definitions and then add the word “love” at the end of it. See how deep it goes? It makes a whole lot of sense why understanding this incomprehensible love is so important.
Take away the root of any plant it dies. Remove a tree from the ground it withers. The same applies to you and God’s love. If you are not rooted in it you will not receive the nutrients you need to live a life of faith and stand firm as you navigate life on this side of eternity and if love is not your foundation, you will come crashing down quicker than a plane with dead engines.
Love is your life source. Your confidence, faith, courage, hope, sustenance, and existence is from it. So how can you be rooted in this love? It is the same way you should be rooted in God.
And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16
God is love. If you abide in Him by abiding in the word, you will be rooted in love. The first thing He reveals is His love for you. Out of love, He died and that love sacrifice is still viable today. When we stray from God, we stray from love and move into fear because love and fear cannot coexist.
So when you wake up in the morning and as often as you can, ask the Lord to reveal His love that passes understanding to you. Tell Him you want to know the depth, width, and height of His love. And He will answer you.
Confession
I am rooted and grounded in love. My life is founded on God’s love for me and I define my life by no other standards. I know the love of Christ that passes all understanding by the revelation of the spirit through the word.
