COURAGEOUS PEOPLE PRAY

  • DAY 102
  • FAITH FILE: THE CORAGE OF JESUS
  • SCRIPTURE: MARK 1:35-39

“Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed. And Simon and those who were with Him searched for Him. When they found Him, they said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.” But He said to them, “Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.” And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons.”

MARK 1:35-39 NKJV

Prayer will always be one of the most powerful weapons given to a believer. Countless times I have experienced personal miracle and deliverance simply by getting on my knees and praying.

A Miracle

I’m 2020 my sister had a surgery. While she was in the hospital the Covid lockdown was announced in Nigeria. We came in from Cotonou for her treatment and we were putting up with someone, we needed our own place because of the dynamic of her treatment. And I thought we had the one month she’d be admitted to find one. But barely 4 days after surgery we had to leave with her still on a wheel chair. We prayed for accommodation and I set out the morning was meant to be discharged in search of a place.

After a fruitless search we found a short let. Getting there it was upstairs, which couldn’t work for a post-surgery oncology patient on a wheel chair. We prayed in our hearts to God again to come through before midnight when lockdown starts. And like a dream the owner of the shortlet, tells us he has another space that is not up to the standard we wanted. If we don’t mind staying there he will give it to us for free. He provided everything we needed, in just 3hrs and we stayed there all through the lock down. The day the lockdown ended God gave us a house.

Made For Fellowhip

I have had a lot more dramatic miracles than that, just by asking God. However, what I love most about prayer is that it keeps me connected to the Father, I believe this was the primary intention. Prayer opens up a channel for man to have access to the ONE who loves them the most. It is designed for fellowship with Abba not as a drive-through, help line, ATM machine, or whatever else we use it for. Fellowship is the purpose.

Because it is through Felloship that intimacy is born. And intimacy gives us access to the heart of the Father, it opens you to the realms of God. It is place of fusion, where your humanity encounters divinity and that ignites courage and faith in you like never before. People of courage know this, so they give themselves to prayer.

Jesus Did

As God living as man in the realms of men, Jesus gave Himself to prayer. He knew that the courage to do the work He was here on earth to do will be released through His interactions with Abba. Infact, I have never read of any person of courage that wasn’t given to prayer. Moses, Daniel, Joshua. Abraham, Jacob, The Apostles, my mother, etc. All of them were people of prayer; running to God was their default setting. But none of them did it just to get what they wanted, they were friends of God.

Relationship over Requests

Beloved, prayer is non negotiable for a person of courage. Make prayer your second nature. Let it be a place reserved just for you and Abba. Don’t make your prayers about your needs alone but about your relationship with God.

Praying from a place of relationship means that you come to Him and tell Him about your day. Let Him into your thoughts. Ask about His thoughts, let Him be a part of your entire existence and don’t neglect the word of God. Studying the word helps you pray better, infact it is the only foundation for prayer, anything outside praying the word is unlawful. As you do this, you’d notice that your confidence and courage will begin to grow.

Practice it now.

Shalom
