DAY 82: CASTING MY CARE
We often love to carry heavy burdens, problems, or troubles. It’s not the burden we love but the comfort we get from the sympathy or pity party of those around us when they see that we’ve gone through a lot. Or maybe because we are scared of living without it.
We prayed about it and shared it with loved ones but we still carry it because it is familiar even though it hurts. But that is not God’s best for us.
God did not create or design us to carry burdens. His plan was for us to depend on Him and trust Him with daily issues even before they become burdens. He bore everything that should burden us when He lovingly carried the cross on which He was later crucified.
His shoulder he bore the cross and he was hung high so that you would never have to carry another burden that is not yours again. He says cast Him. He cares for you. He knows how heavy it is to carry a burden because He carried His fair share while on earth. So He wants to take that burden and exchange it for peace. He says:
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30
Exchange your burdens for His and step into the fullness of the rest He has prepared for you in Him.
Confession
I lay my cares, concerns, troubles, and everything that weighs me down at the foot of Jesus and I take upon myself the peace and the rest that He has provided, in Jesus’ name amen.
