Sometimes we can get so confident in something we think we can or cannot do. Even when God is warning us about that and saying, watch this here, watch that here. We are convinced that we can never do that. Peter went from confidence to denial, the same person that said that he wouldn’t deny Jesus, eventually denied Jesus.
Jesus made it abundantly clear throughout his time that service is the way to greatness and honor in the kingdom. and that the “first shall be last; and the last first (mark 10:31).
Beloved, trust God, even in the midst of the storm. Trust that He has you covered. Trust that even in the midst of danger, though He might seem asleep, He has the power to say to the storm, Be still, and it Obeys!
Ain’t it like God to tell us to take a step of faith in the midst of turbulent winds. It seems He always calls us to step into the very thing that scares. He does this hoping that you would trust His presence to keep you safe. It’s a tough wind but He’s with you anyway.
Some of us are so used to comfort that it becomes a crotch that hinders obedience. I’m not saying God is calling you to poverty, I’m saying don’t let comfort stop you from purpose. I’m saying that if God sends you with nothing, it’s because He has already provided everything as He did with the disciples.
Leaving everything to follow Jesus is not easy. I know that for a fact. I left all to follow Jesus at 22 and I almost cried myself to sickness. I was so terrified that I couldn’t tell my family what I was actually going to do. I resigned my job, left my country and started on the journey with Jesus with so much complains, tantrums and tears.
I am a firm believer in the power that lies in the tongue. First, because the Bible says so but also because I have found it to be true in my life on various accounts. Every word you speak is powerful enough to change your life. Now we know that the word of God has power on its own, how much more power will be evident if the word is what proceeds out of your mouth? So from time to time, we will pick a scripture and make it our confession of faith and courage for that season.
My prayer for you is that you will not start something and drop it halfway, no matter the opposition that comes your way, you will hang on till the end.
Beloved, tough times doesn’t discredit the faithfulness of God. Just like Jesus, trust God’s nature over your feelings. Don’t hesitate to hand over everything that you are to Him. He is faithful and can be trusted. So trust Him with that business, that child, that childlessness, that hurt, that loneliness, that heartbreak, that provision, accommodation and sustenance. He is still faithful and will always be.
We see through the study of scripture that God could not look upon Jesus because He had carried upon himself the sins of the world, and the Holy One cannot see evil. He cannot behold sin with His eyes. So He looked away from the sin, but not from The Son.
