ASK AGAIN
- DAY 233
- FEAR FILE: SAMSON PARENTS
- SCRIPTURES: JUDGES 13:2-5, 8-9
Sometimes God’s word or assignment does not come with an instruction manual that tells us what to do daily. There isn’t always a blueprint with every single detail at the beginning. In some seasons He gives so much detail but sometimes He says go to a land I will show you. And it can be discombobulating, unsettling, and anxiety-inducing. Because you don’t even know where to start on this great assignment that God is given you. When God asked me to write this devotional the first time, I was like, where am I going to start? How am I going to do this? Nobody knows me. What will Day 1 be? Do I start from Genesis or Exodus? And that’s the kind of situation that Samson’s Parents found themselves in.
An Angel appeared to Samson’s mom and told her that she was going to have a child after waiting for so long. He told her what the child would become and how to handle the pregnancy. However, when she tells her husband this, it dawned on them that knowing the beginning and end was not enough information. They needed to know the in-between too. The beginning was the conception and the end was the purpose of that child but this child will need to be raised and they had no idea how to do that.
Ask Questions
Sometimes we’re in that season when God has called us to do something and we just need a little bit more information. We’re not saying God, we’re not going to do it. We’re not saying we don’t want to do it yet. We’ve accepted the call, we just need a little bit more clarity and information. In that season, you need to do what Manoah did and ask God. Some of us don’t ask because we think it will mean that we are questioning God but that is not the same thing. Asking for guidance is not the same as questioning God. God is not against you asking Him questions. He always answers when we ask because He is not hiding anything from us. He may give you just enough information for the next step, but He always answers.
Beloved, do not be afraid to seek guidance from God and ask Him about the path He has set for you. In every season, inquire about what comes next. By doing so, you remain aligned with His will and avoid relying solely on your own strength to fulfill God’s purpose for your life.
Let’s practice.
Dear God, send me a word again and tell me what it is that I need to know concerning this assignment that you’re giving to me. Can you direct me one step further on who I need to talk to, who I need to call, and the people that you’re sending with me on this assignment? Please tell me what you are asking of me this next quarter of the year. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Shalom
