DAY 18: A YIELDED HEART

“Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

Hebrews 4:7b

God wants to speak to us, He wants to lead us with His voice and show us where to go as promised in John 10:3-5 and Isaiah 30:21. But as we saw in our devotional yesterday, we often don’t hear Him. Today, we see that there is a possibility that when people do hear they may not obey.

The text says “Today if… harden not your heart” and Paul was telling the saints not to harden their hearts because it can affect God’s promise for them. They may not enter into the rest He had prepared for them.

A hard heart will rob you of the promise of rest. God calls it rebellion and it cost Israel their lives, and time. They spent 40 years wondering and waiting for the disobedient to die before they could proceed.

What has God asked you to do that you are delaying or procrastinating? Have you taken the step or are you dragging your feet? That is a symptom of a hard heart. You are saying that god’s voice does not carry enough weight to change your will. Pray and repent, then ask God to tenderize your heart.

Declare

My heart be willing to obey God today and all the days of my life. You will not be hard or given to rebellion. I hear God’s voice and I obey His leading

For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice: “Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, As in the day of trial in the wilderness, When your fathers tested Me; They tried Me, though they saw My work. – Psalm 95:7-9
