A TEMPLATE FOR A FEARFUL HEART

  • DAY 120
  • FEAR FILES: YOU
  • SCRIPTURE: PSALM 3

For the heart that feels gripped by anxiety and worried about many things, the word of God is comfort and relief. The simplicity of the word is all that is needed to break the hold of fear. I have found this psalm to be a template for me (amongst others) at times when I feel afraid.

A Simple Template

If you feel perplexed on all sides declare this Psalm, speak it to your heart and meditate on it.

  • Tell God how it is, how you feel and what ails you. He can take it, so you don’t have to. Don’t withhold anything. The first step to peace is openness and vulnerability with God.

“Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah

  • Confidently declare who your God is, His promises to you and your confidence in Him. Say it aloud so your heart can hear it through your ears.

But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head.

  • Now remember the victories you’ve experienced, the miracles you’ve encountered and the great things God has done in the past or is doing in the present. If you wrote it down, read it out, testify to the audience of ONE.

I cried to the Lord with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah. I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me.

  • Denounce the fears you feel. Let it know that you know it’s not of God and it’s a boldface, poorly crafted lie. Speak to your heart, tell it not to worry.

I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around.

  • Call on God. Make a direct request for help. But be confident that He that you are calling has already won the victory for you.

Arise, O Lord; Save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.

  • Thank now thee thy God who continually saves you. Let praise flow freely from your heart.

Salvation belongs to the Lord. Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah”
