A PRAYER WHEN AFRAID

  • DAY 302
  • FAITH FILE: JEHOSHAPHAT
  • SCRIPTURES: 2 CHRONICLES 20:4

So Judah gathered together to ask help from the LORD; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.

When I read this text I imagine that all of Judah went before God and said one prayer in unison “God help me.” I believe that this prayer is so powerful that even if you don’t have what to pray, you can start from God help me. I say “start” because most times when you say that three-word prayer the Holy Spirit helps you with more words.

Most times, when we find ourselves in difficult situations, we think we have to start fancy. And it is not our fault, we were taught so. So when we find ourselves perplexed by fear and don’t know what to pray it’s easy to underestimate how powerful this prayer can be.

Beloved, when you go before God, who is your ever-present help in time of need, your Ebenezer, and ask Him for help, He hears and answers.

The Holy Spirit is our helper because God knows we’re going to need help. He positioned, not just His presence and spirit, but also His name. So that we can know He is always willing to help us. He is always available.

To Do

So today you have one assignment, wherever you are, ask God for help. Because you cannot do life without the help of God. Whether your heart is fearful or not, you can’t do life without God’s help. God has to help you for you to come out of your fear. God has to help you to come out of anything and even to succeed. You can’t do life without His help.

Take a moment in the midst of your day right now, wherever you are reading this devotional. Say, “God help me.” And he will answer you in Jesus’ name.

Amen. Shalom.
