A LITTLE TOO BUSY

‘Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, ‘

Acts 3:19

What is one of the most common things that rob us of a fruitful relationship with God? I’d say it’s being busy, and not having enough time to devote to being in the presence of God. We long to spend more time with God but we don’t because life is demanding so much of us and pulling us in different directions.

And God taught me a great lesson that I’m still learning daily. The thing I’m procrastinating because I’m tired or busy is the thing that will give me the strength I need when the world drains me. The world will always demand of me and take from me, but He is there to fill and give to me.

Stay With Source

The source of my strength and my being comes from His presence because He is the vine and I am the branch; if I separate from Him, I will struggle with life. There will always be an emptiness inside me that could be filled with my pride because that space won’t be empty for long, other things will fill it but will not satisfy me.

And so I have to intentionally come into His presence, tired as I may be, so that I can drink from His presence and be able to find strength. In Him, there is an endless supply of the things that I am busy chasing. So I must repent of the things that take my time and strength and return to Him to be refreshed.

In this month of refreshing, He wants us to know that it is in Him that we find newness of strength;  so we have to prioritize His presence and come to Him as Abba (source) to be refreshed. When we make God first, there seems to be time for every other thing; but if we never make time for God, time will never be enough.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to set my eyes on the things that matter. To focus on You more than I focus on me. Give me the grace to lean on You, for You are the source of my strength, and refreshing comes from You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Shalom
