A GOODLY SEED

  • DAY 296
  • FAITH FILE: MOTHER OF MOSES
  • SCRIPTURES: Exodus 2:1-3

And a man of the house of Levi went and took as wife a daughter of Levi. So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months. But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank.

Exodus 2:1-3

It will take faith for a slave that has been beaten down, forced to meet her quota, probably made to work even while pregnant and have seen the ugliness of her master, to defy the instruction of her “owners.” Only something extraordinary like faith would cause her to rise up in that kind of rebellion. Because slaves are stripped of all sense of self worth and courage. So to defy a King like Pharoah to save her child was way beyond the protective instincts of a mother. Hebrews 11:23 confirms this

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command. Hebrews 11:23

What kind of beauty will make a slave courageous enough to risk her life and that of her other kids? I dare to believe that she saw something beyond beauty, something beyond a goodly child (according to the KJV). She saw by the eyes of faith a revelation of who Moses was at his core. Something about his destiny called out to her. What she saw dispelled all forms of fear of what might happen if she was caught. And if you have been around a new mom, you will know that hiding a baby is no small task.

Faith In What You See

Courage and faith arises in you when you see the content of your seed. The uniqueness of what you carry or what you labored to bring forth is beyond ordinary and once you see its beauty courage arises on the inside of you. Something within you rises up in faith to protect and preserve what God has given you.

So your prayer should be that your eyes will be open to see what is within what you carry, so that you can fight to preserve it. Because a lot of us let go so easily. When life comes, we easily let go of the dreams God has embedded in us. We so quickly toss away the visions of the future we saw in the nighttime because we are afraid. Although we may not fully see what it might become we have to hold on to the little beauty we see and from that faith woill rise.

I pray for you that your eyes will be open to see the goodliness and the beauty within what you carry, so that you will protect and preserve it with everything that you have. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Shalom.
