A COURAGEOUS PRAYER
- DAY 88
- Fear File: Joshua
- Scripture: Joshua 10:12-13
If you were not already convinced of how pivotal your prayers are or how powerful the words that proceed out of your mouth are, let this scripture be that confirmation for you.
The children of Israel were at war and Joshua; a mere mortal, like you and I, made a prayer and commanded two elements that determine time and seasons on earth to pause, and those elements obeyed. How amazing is that? This is how powerful a person that is living in the realm of faith is. A person that lives knowing that they could have; exceedingly, abundantly, above all they can ever ask, think or imagine.
It’s In Possible
When I read this Scripture, I ask myself, would I have had the courage or boldness or even faith to say this exact prayer if I were in the same situation? Would I have commanded the sun and moon? I don’t think so. I may have prayed for strength to keep fighting or the will to resume tomorrow but defying nature would not have crossed my mind. I think it’s because we have allowed the enemy to deceive us into staying in the safe zone with God. We put limits on our prayers and on God by asking for what we think is safe and possible. But God is saying that people of courage pray the impossible. They bring the possibilities of God into the realm of impossibilities that men are used to.
But see, it’s not about praying the impossible, it’s about praying it according to the will of God. That is key and also the reason some of us don’t get answers to some of our audacious prayers. Because our motive for praying those prayers is selfish and not God-centered. God releases miracles on purpose and for purpose. So if you’re going to pray audacious prayers like Joshua, you have to be on the move with God. You have to be on God’s assignment.
When you’re aligned with God, even the elements around you listen to your voice. Every time you make a decree, the earth is listening and heaven is backing you. So you have to stop allowing the enemy to rob you of great and awesome encounters with God.
No Limits
God has given you the capacity to ask Him. He says;
And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask Me for anything in My name, and I will do it. (John 14:13-14)
He didn’t say that you should ask of the things that He’s done before, It just has to be in his name. If it’s in His name, it means that it is in His word because His name and His word are the same. So as long as it meets this criterion, then you can have whatsoever, you ask.
And there is no restriction on who can ask or pray the impossible. He said
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. (Mark 11:23)
Stop staying in the safe zones, and stop limiting your prayers to the things you’ve seen people do or what you’ve seen God answer before. Step out of your comfort zone and embrace the complete confidence and courage to pray exceedingly, abundantly, and above all. Take the limits of God, break that box you have put God in, and start asking for audacious things.
Personally, I have asked for audacious things and although God has given me, I still find it difficult to still ask for those audacious things. Because I allow fear, doubt, unbelief, and uncertainty to grip my heart. But God is saying to me, as He is saying to you, come out of fear and live boldly and courageously.
To Do
Before you leave this broadcast, ask God for something courageous. Make sure it is according to His word and rebuke that fear that wants to limit you. Take note of what you asked including the date and time and please share the testimony with me when you have the answer.
Shalom.
