DAY 142: GREEN PASTURES

He makes me to lie down in green pastures

PSALM 23:2a

Pasture means a home, residence, pleasant place, abode, meadow, and habitation. A pasture is also a grazing place for herds and flocks. This pasture is green and lush, it can provide food for the flock. However, our text says that The Shepherd is leading His flock to this pasture to lie down. I believe it is specific because you and I are not sheep. So, I believe, that this pasture speaks of a habitation.

Think of it as the Lord taking care of your accommodation. The Shepherd is responsible for looking out for where the sheep will lay when night comes and that accommodation is pleasant because the pasture He provides is lush and green. He has scouted a place suitable for His flock to get a good night’s sleep. I’m talking, about soft pillows, cozy mattresses, night lights, and the perfect temperature, in a house with a view.

The Shepherd Provides Accommodation

Beloved, your housing needs are the responsibility of The Shepherd. That’s why you shouldn’t worry. When Israel had no home for 40 years He protected them in the wilderness while He prepared their permanent land in Canaan. They never worried about their home, God was handling it.

If you struggle to pay rent, bring this scripture before God and praise Him for your green pastures.

Shalom.
