DAY 124: THE RIGHT STAFF

He also said to His disciples: “There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and an accusation was brought to him that this man was wasting his goods. So he called him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.”

Luke 16:1-2

If you have a business, pray about the people you hire before you hire them. You should pray to have the right people working for you (the same way you should pray to have the right kind of colleagues). Your staff is key to the success or failure of your business.

In our text today, this rich man found that his staff was embezzling or misappropriating funds. So he called him to inquire about the matter and ask for an audit. Since he couldn’t prove his innocence or refute the accusation, the rich man fired him.

'“The manager thought, ‘Now what am I going to do? I’m finished here. I can’t hide what I’ve done, and I’m too proud to beg. I have an idea that will secure my future. It will win me favor and secure friends who can take care of me and help me when I get fired!’' –Luke 16:3-4

So he met his boss’ debtors and asked them for some money to write off their debt, defrauding the company further. It is risky to be an employer and not pray for the kind of staff you want. So do that now. 

Confession

I have the right staff. The people who work for me are diligent, skilled, men of integrity, good reports, full of the spirit and the fear of The Lord. I will not hire someone who will defraud me. Let every employee that has set themselves to destroy my business be exposed in Jesus’ name, amen.
