DAY 88: STANDING FIRM

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

Psalm 46:1-3

Pay attention to the description in this text. “We will not fear though the Earth gives way and the mountains fall?” Picture with me what it would feel like if the Earth gave way. The Earth is what we are currently standing upon and residing in. If it shook even a little the result would be catastrophic. How much more if it gives way; life as we Know It will come to an end. A good example of this is an earthquake. Buildings, properties, and lives are always casualties of earthquakes yet the bible says in these extremely terrifying scenarios we should not be afraid. Sounds impossible but it’s not.

Earth there speaks of your foundation, something that gives you stability, something that you’ve put your confidence upon, or something you’ve come to rely on and depend upon. Mountains speak of great heights, success, and achievement.

God is saying that even if it feels like your world is crumbling, your stability is gone, and all your years of hard work is down the drain, you should not be afraid why? Because He is your refuge, your strength, and your help. Maybe you relied on that person and they walked away, you graduated with honors but you are jobless or you have worked hard and now you have nothing to show for it. God is saying, Don’t let it move you in any way.

How is that possible? He was your foundation to begin with and when all else fails as long as God hasn’t failed, you will come out victorious and be okay.

Confession

Come what may, I will not be afraid because the Lord is my help, shield, and refuge. Even when the earth quakes and the rivers roar, I am safe and secure, I am standing firm in the Lord my refuge. He is my present help and He will come to my aid. Amen
