DAY 63: I HAVE SLEEP

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep.

PSALM 127:2

There are situations in life that take away people’s sleep. Sometimes it is worry, concern, stress, or anxiety. In some cases, it is one sickness or another. The Bible says that sleep is a gift God gives. He gives His beloved a sound sleep. But you can be given something and you reject it or you don’t use it. You have the gift in your possession but somehow you leave it there. God gives you, His beloved, a sound sleep and yes, you are His beloved.

He has loved you with an everlasting love and with lovingkindness He has drawn you, so sleep is your right. Therefore whatever it is that is threatening your sleep is out of order.

I remember losing sleep because I was afraid that if I fell asleep my sister would die. She was sick with cancer at the time and her lungs were affected. As a deep sleeper, I thought I wouldn’t hear her whisper my name if she needed help so I struggled on most nights to sleep and when I did I’d jump up from bed in a panic to go check her breathing. Fear robbed me of this beautiful gift of sleep. But you don’t have to let it do the same to you.

Declare

Before you tuck yourself into bed tonight, speak over yourself and say I am God’s beloved, and tonight I will have sleep I rebuke whatever it is that is taken away my sleep. My mind, be still and find rest. In Jesus’ name, amen

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. –Proverbs 3:24
