DAY 1: START GRATEFUL

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.

Psalm 100:4-5

Every season has an eve, a boundary, and a point of crossover where one season ends and another begins. For a new day, it is midnight, for a new work week it is Sunday, for a new year it is New Year’s Eve. At the point of every transition to a new season, there is a gate and there are gatekeepers. Even your life has a gate. A gate is simply an access point, much like a door.

This new season has a gate and because you are reading this, I can safely assume that you have entered through it. However, there is a way to enter a gate and things to be done at the gate. One of them is Thanksgiving.

The Gate and The Gatekeeper

Now for every believer in the sheepfold, your gatekeeper is Jesus (John 10). He is also the gate/door. So the gate into 2024 is Christ and He also owns the gate. Our text today tells us how to enter that gate – by giving thanks.

Now, I know you may have done this during the crossover service but please indulge me. Take a moment and give God thanks at this gate. Before you ask for your needs and desires or dreams give thanks.

Declare This Psalm

I will praise You with my whole heart;  before the gods I will sing praises to You. I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name. For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name. In the day when I cried out, You answered me, And made me bold with strength in my soul. –Psalm 138:1-3
