“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
Isaiah 55:10–11 (NKJV)
Once upon a time, I ordered a product from a vendor online. She had amazing customer service. I paid without stress. She packaged the item well and told me clearly that because I live in Badagry, delivery would take between twenty four to forty eight hours. Everything about her part of the process was excellent. She sent me a message saying, “Your dispatch has left.” Shortly after, the dispatch company called and told me they would assign someone to deliver the package. That was where the problem started.
The person they sent is the only human being I can describe as a weapon fashioned against whoever they assigned him to. He called me in the morning, but he did not show up until around 7 p.m. And mind you, this person was on a bike. I still do not understand how someone on a bike within Lagos gets to Badagry at 7 p.m.
When he finally arrived, he did not come to my house. He stayed at the junction. The junction to my house is barely five to ten minutes away. It is a tarred road. There are street lights. There are security checkpoints. It is not some hidden bush path. Yet he insisted that I should come out to meet him at the junction. I asked him a simple question. Why is the delivery not complete? I paid for the goods to be delivered to my house. Why are you refusing to complete the cycle of the delivery?
No Take-Backs
This reminded me of another experience we once had. The delivery person was so rude and arrogant that my husband told him to return the goods back to the vendor. He clearly did not understand his job. The vendor later called us to apologize.
And that is the point. With normal packages, a delivery person can fail. The package can be returned. The transaction can be reversed. But it is not so with the Word of God.
When God sends His Word, that Word is sent on assignment. It carries a God promise. If God says, “You are healed,” healing is the picture that Word is carrying. That Word comes into your life to birth what God has spoken. Unlike a human delivery person, the Word of God cannot return to the Sender undone. Isaiah says it cannot return to Him void. It must accomplish what He sent it to do.
Just Believe
So if the Word of God is perfect, faithful, and committed to its assignment, then the only thing that can interrupt the delivery is not the Word. It is the recipient. Unbelief, fear, doubt, and resistance do not cancel the Word, but they can prevent it from resting and working fully in your life. The Word cannot return to God, so it hovers where it was sent, waiting for a heart that will receive it.
Beloved, what will it really cost you to believe God? What do you stand to lose by trusting His Word? The answer is almost nothing. But what you stand to gain is everything God has already promised.
Today, choose to believe the Word God has spoken concerning you. It will not return to Him void.
Prayer
Lord, I thank You for Your Word that You have spoken to me. I thank You that You were intentional enough to speak Your Word concerning my life. Where my heart has struggled to believe, and where that struggle has affected the working of Your Word, I ask for Your help. Make my heart a good ground, a fertile ground, and a profitable ground for Your Word. Help me to receive what You have spoken and to see the full manifestation in my life. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
Shalom
