FAITH TO PRAISE

  • DAY 304
  • FAITH FILE: JEHOSHAPHAT
  • SCRIPTURES: 2 CHRON 20:21-22

And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: “Praise the LORD, For His mercy endures forever.” Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.

Picture it, Nigeria gets attacked (God forbid) and the Nigerian army is dressed in the uniform with their bomb tanks and massive guns, in a procession to the border. Then the president calls the RCCG mass choir with Nathaniel Bassey, Dunsin, and Victoria Orenze as lead singers to sing praise and worship as they are going to the border to fight. See eh 90% of the opposition will be Christians because wetin concern drummer with bomb?

A Noisy Strategy

You have to understand that praise is noisy. It is advisable to come in stealthily even though your enemy is expecting you. It is unwise for your enemy to hear how you’re coming and where you’re coming in from. Because one bomb in that direction and it’s over. But Jehoshaphat and Judah chose noise. They were singing and praising God with instruments. The only reason someone will do this is because they know the outcome of the fight. God told them “You won’t need to fight go to the battlefield but I will fight for you.”

So before they even get to the battlefront they start to praise because they have inside information. They weren’t worried about whether or not they were being loud, they were rejoicing because they believed God’s word that the battle was already won. They weren’t going to wait to give God praise, they would start right away. And as they praised, the Lord set ambushes and the people who came against them began to kill themselves.

Keep Praising

Beloved, praise is an act of faith and it is powerful. You know, the victory they were promised could have played out in different ways. They would have fought and nobody would have died yet they exerted energy. Or some other option. But who would have thought that people who came together to fight them would turn against themselves? The interesting thing is Jehoshaphat and Judah had no idea that their praise was working. They just matched on ready for war while praising. The outcome was a complete surprise to them.

I wonder how many times you stopped praising because you thought it wasn’t working only for you to get the miracle and realize that God was putting the pieces together with every song you sang and you had no idea. don’t underestimate your praise. And as an added bonus, praise eliminates any feelings of anxiety you might have.

So take a moment and praise God wherever you are. Hallelujah.

Shalom.
