SURROUNDED

  • DAY 244
  • FAITH FILE: ELISHA
  • SCRIPTURES: 2 KINGS 6:13-17

So he said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him.” And it was told him, saying, “Surely he is in Dothan.” Therefore he sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city. And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Imagine that you woke up in the morning and you saw an army all around your house. People holding weapons of war are standing around your house waiting for you to come out. How would you respond OR react? I would look for some hole somewhere to hide. I probably would start crying and begging God that it’s better you kill me than for these people to go with me or maybe start asking “God why me? I’m just here minding my business and doing your work. Why would you allow these people to come and surround me?” I would definitely lose myself because of fear. This was Elisha’s reality only that he was not afraid but his servant was.

Elisha was not afraid because he had information that the servant did not have. He knew that greater is He on his side and in him than they that were against him. He knew that the people that came to surround him just put themselves in unnecessary trouble. Besides they didn’t know that it was not his fight, he was not carrying out his own assignment, their beef should be directed at the ONE that sent Elisha.

Opened Eyes

You see, sometimes we are minding our business doing the thing that God has sent us to do, going about our daily routine, and we get attacked. We get surrounded and confronted by issues. We’re surrounded by bills, sickness, and a failing marriage, and we feel like everything is coming against us at the same time. We don’t know how we’re going to come out of it. It can be so easy to think that God had just left you out in this mess, and you don’t know what to do or how to get out of it. I want to give you the information that Elisha had.

But first, let’s pray the prayer that Elisha prayed for his servant. That the Lord will open your eyes to see that whatever is surrounding you is surrounded. May the Lord open your eyes to see His love and intent concerning you. and that you will come to know that those who came against you set an ambush for themselves. They thought they walked in to seize you but it was a trap. God was looking for how to get them surrounded. He was looking for how to get them to subdue. He was looking for how to show them His glory and His power. Your enemies came in their arrogance only to become victims of an ambush prepared by God.

Do Not Fear

Beloved, do not be afraid. The angels of God are surrounding your problems. The power of the Almighty is backing you. You may look surrounded but the thing that surrounds you is surrounded by God. So if you are in that situation where you feel overwhelmed by problems, your problems have been surrounded and overwhelmed. Let your focus be on the ONE that is surrounding you. The greater ONE is in you, the mighty delivering power of God is for you. focus on that and not on your problems. You will come out of this issue that you’re in now, victorious. And you will see God’s goodness and glory in the land of the living. God bless you.

Shalom.
