FULFIL YOUR VOW

  • DAY 152
  • FEAR FILE: HANNAH
  • SCRIPTURES: 1 Samuel 1:20-28

“So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.” Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, one ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the Lord in Shiloh. And the child was young. Then they slaughtered a bull, and brought the child to Eli. For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him. Therefore I also have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the Lord.” So they worshiped the Lord there.”

‭‭I Samuel‬ ‭1‬:‭20‬, ‭24‬-‭25‬, ‭27‬-‭28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

So today, we are in the aftermath of the vow Hannah made with God. She finally received what she prayed for. God had kept His own end of the bargain, He had given her a child. Hannah is now holding the miracle she prayed for; nobody would mock her again. It is her turn to fulfill her own end of the bargain. She has to make a decision to release her miracle as she promised. God was not going to come and drag it from her. It’s her move now.

Hey Vower👋

Just like some of you are or will soon be in the aftermath of your miracle. You’re holding that child, that restored marriage, that degree or maybe those followers you asked God for. You’re holding that car or you finally moved into that new house. Now is the point where heaven will know if you’re going to keep your vow or not. In our text today, Hannah didn’t fail. She kept her end and took Samuel to the house of the Lord. This was a courageous and faith full move.

Sometimes you go to church and promise to contribute to building project. Then we fail to keep our word and that now affects our ability to have answered prayers.

Some of us make promises carelessly to God and we forget that God believes in us because He put His nature in us. He expects that If we make a vow to the Lord, we should keep it (Deuteronomy 23:21-23 NKJV). But sometimes we make a vow to God when we are pressed for the thing, but when we eventually get the thing, we don’t keep our vow.

Don’t Play God

No wonder we’re living in anxiety, doubt and worry about something that God has said He will do because we think that He’s as unfaithful with His promises as we are with ours.

Beloved, people of faith don’t play a fast one on God. They know God is faithful, He will do His part. So before they open their mouths they have to decide to keep their word. We have to be like our father and keep our word. That’s true faith and courage.

If you broke a vow to God, today is an opportunity to make amends. Whatever vow God is bringing to your mind right now, it’s probably because He wants you to make amends on that.

Go Redeem It

If it is still redeemable, Go and fulfill that vow.
If it’s a vow about money and you don’t have the money in your account. Tell the Father to provide for you. That you realise how unfaithful you were and in repentance you want to make things right. Now make an actual financial plan on how you’re going to fulfill it.

If you promised to live for Him, then do so. You said you will go back and testify, go testify. Don’t be a promise receiver and not a promise keeper.

However, some vows are irredeemable. There is nothing humanly possible that can be done to fulfill that vow. For that you can repent and ask for God’s mercy. And He will erase it completely because He knows.

Pray

Now is the right time for you to pray and say, Father, forgive. I didn’t keep my vow, I repent. I actually really want to do your will. And yes, I may have forgotten, but now I’ve remembered. Give me the grace to keep it and to fulfill it in Jesus name. Amen

Shalom.
