EYES ON THE DREAM

• DAY 140
• FAITH FILE: JOSEPH
• SCRIPTURES: GENESIS 40:4; 6-8

And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them; so they were in custody for a while. And Joseph came in to them in the morning and looked at them, and saw that they were sad. So he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in the custody of his lord’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?” And they said to him, “We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.” So Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me, please.”

As we continue to study Joseph, I can’t help but notice his reaction and attitude at every stage of his life. When he was at his father’s he was upright and gave the true report of affairs to his dad, even though that report was unfavorable for his brothers.

When he got to Potiphar’s house as a slave, he served his master diligently. No tantrums. If I was yanked out of my father’s house and sold, I might have either spent each day crying or telling everyone the story of my life and misfortune. But Joseph, served.

In the prison, where he was put for doing absolutely nothing wrong, he served. He was so diligent he became the boss of the prisoners. He could have been sad and grumpy. Instead he looked out for the well-being of those in his custody. He cared if they were sad or uncomfortable and he sought ways to help them.

Rejoice In The Lord

This kind of behavior can only be found in the life of a man of faith. A lot of us spend our dark seasons angry and seeking for pity. Telling everyone who cares to listen the injustice we faced and how we aren’t meant to be there. We act childish, irresponsible and even mad at God. But that is because we are living in the realms of fear.

We think that what we are going through is the definition of our lives so we lament. We forget that our lives are following a pattern. We even fail to realize that the presence of God is with us so we need not worry. We choose instead to fix our eyes on our circumstance rather than His promise.

Focus

Joseph was not like some of us. He knew he had a promise over his life and he focused on that. He knew that as long as God is with him he will come out better and stronger. it takes courage to see things this way.

I wanna encourage you today to fix your focus on the dream God showed you. Set your heart on God’s promise as you go through this season. If you rest in God, you will find the joy you need to draw from the wells of salvation.

Take a moment now and ask God to help you do this. He said His grace outs sufficient, ask for that grace and you shall have it. In Jesus name. Amen
